Cultivated in Yunnan.

Backed by modern analysis.

Crafted for daily wellness.

Hibiscus has been enjoyed across cultures not only for its vibrant crimson colour and refreshing flavour, but for the naturally occurring plant compounds found within its petals. Today, modern research explores how anthocyanins, polyphenols, flavonoids, and organic acids may support hydration, cardiovascular wellness, antioxidant defence, and overall wellbeing.

At PiPi Tea, we pair carefully sourced hibiscus with independent laboratory testing and an evidence-informed approach to quality, purity, and transparency.

What's Inside Your Cup?

Tea naturally contains hundreds of bioactive plant compounds that contribute to both its flavor and its wellness profile. Tea contains a unique combination of these compounds in a naturally occurring matrix rather than as isolated ingredients.

Our hibiscus originates from Yunnan, China

The tropical climate and high elevation supports careful cultivation and vibrant flavor of the hibiscus, tart and refreshing packed with vitamin C. The Yunnan Roselle is unique for its thick, bright red calyces, suited to make herbal teas, detox beverages, and traditional medicines alike.

In Jianxi, we have cultivated our own independent farm to grow this varietal, following organic standards.

Why Origin Matters

Due to Yunnan’s high elevations and mineral-rich soils, it encourages larger, thicker, and more vibrant calyces to grow compared to hibiscus grown in lower-elevation environments. The flower is noticeably larger, with a deeper ruby color, fuller body, and naturally concentrated levels of beneficial plant compounds.

As a result the tea’s profile provides...

Refreshment and hydration

Tart cranberry flavor

High concentration of vitamin C

What the Research Says

Cardiovascular Health

Hibiscus has traditionally been consumed across many cultures as a botanical infusion associated with heart health. Modern research has focused on its naturally occurring anthocyanins and polyphenols, which are being investigated for their role in supporting healthy blood pressure, vascular function, and cardiovascular wellbeing.

Recent systematic reviews suggest that regular hibiscus consumption may contribute to healthy cardiovascular markers as part of a balanced diet, although researchers continue to investigate the underlying biological mechanisms.

Hydration & Recovery

Naturally caffeine-free and rich in organic acids, hibiscus offers a refreshing way to support daily hydration. Its tart flavour profile encourages fluid intake while its naturally occurring plant compounds continue to be investigated for their role in post-exercise recovery and overall wellbeing.

Although hydration is primarily determined by total fluid intake, herbal infusions such as hibiscus can contribute meaningfully to daily hydration while providing additional bioactive plant compounds.

Antioxidant Activity

The vibrant ruby colour of hibiscus comes from anthocyanins, the same family of antioxidant pigments found in blueberries, blackberries, and cherries. These naturally occurring flavonoids have become an important area of research due to their ability to help protect cells from oxidative stress.

Recent reviews continue to investigate how anthocyanins and polyphenols contribute to antioxidant activity, healthy ageing, and overall cellular wellbeing.
